Mission Statement

The Assistant Vice President for Academic Services and units (Testing, Research Support, and Evaluation Center [TREC], Academic Testing for Students with Disabilities [ATSD], and Student Learning Assistance Center [SLAC]) reporting to this office provide supplementary, essential services to students, faculty, and administration at Texas State. Specifically the AVPAA and the units provide identification and administrative coordination of the Texas State University Common Experience; coordination of the undergraduate General Education Core Curriculum; overseeing the Presidential Award for Excellence in Teaching; timely and high quality assistance to faculty and administration in processing and analysis of assessment data, and address specific student needs: administration of specific credit and non-credit testing; provision of institutional testing for students with disabilities; and provision of supplementary instruction and enhancement of student academic performance, especially among the undergraduate population.
