Children and Minors on Campus

Welcome!

Texas State University is committed to ensuring a safe and supportive environment for everyone on our campuses. Texas State hosts a number of university programs or activities involving non-enrolled minors (individuals who are under the age of 18). These coordinated activities vary and may include education and outreach programs, activity camps, the Child Development Center, instruction, research, touring, tutoring, and coaching which occur on or off our campuses. Texas State University recognizes its obligations to ensure the safety and well-being of minor children that are on campus, in university facilities, participating in university-sponsored events, or involved with university-affiliated individuals.

Policies

In 2011, Senate Bill (SB) 1414, established the Campus Program for Minors to educate employees of such programs by establishing requirements relating to sexual abuse and child molestation training. In response to this law, Texas State University created the Reporting Abuse of Minors and Training Policy. This policy applies to all Texas State faculty and staff employees, student workers who have direct contact with minors, third-party vendors and their employees affiliated with Texas State who have direct contact with minors, and volunteers working with Texas State who have direct contact with minors.
