Since 1999, requests for additions to or deletions from the General Education core curriculum go to the General Education Council. The Council reviews proposals and makes recommendations to the assistant vice president for Academic Services (AVPAS). The AVPAS reviews and reports the Council’s recommendations to the provost and vice president for Academic Affairs. In the role as the chief academic officer, the provost and vice president for Academic Affairs reviews the recommendations and reports the final decisions to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. Decisions from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board are reported to the provost and vice president for Academic Affairs, who reports this information to the AVPAS and General Education Council.
